In early 1977 the Louisville & Nashville leased an assortment of locomotives from the Canadian National to help out with a motive power shortage. Here CN GP38-2W 5571, L&N GP38-2 4058, CN GP38-2W 5586 and CN GP38-2 5517 were on a westbound (timetable south) extra at the Read Blvd. grade crossing in eastern New Orleans, as the train neared its destination at Gentilly Yard. |
