Tom Beckett General Sweet!! Looks like one of the Bay Head trains. It would have originated at Newark Penn Station, NY passengers connecting off other PC or Amtrak trains. The car behind the engine is one of a fleet of ex BN/GN cars that NJDOT picked up in the mid 70's to augment their own fleet. There was a set of thees cars that ran almost as a dedicated set, often seen on the NY&Long Branch to Bay Head, behind a pair of CNJ diesels. It was referred to as the "Bay Head Empire Builder" for its resemblance to the GN train, having cars in the Big Sky blue, as here, and also GN green/orange and BN green/white. It was quite a sight!! 2/13/2025 6:34:18 AM
