These cars were and still are staple sites on the line hauling sand from pits near Montgomery, AL to Atlanta. In the 1970s through the 1990s, there was a dedicated "Sand Train" that exclusively hauled these cars to and from pit and plants around Atlanta. Today, their numbers are diminished |
