| Espee 8633, a rebuilt SD40M-2 idles in SP's Broadway Yard while getting a rinse during a summer downpour. This locomotive was originally delivered to Chesapeake & Ohio as SD40 7452 in August 1966 and after serving Chessie System then CSX was retired and sold to Morrison Knudsen and entered the lease pool as MKCX 8403. M-K then pulled this locomotive from the pool and rebuilt the locomotive for Southern Pacific as SD40M-2 8633 which served both SP then UP until the latter stored the locomotive until lease expiration. A fine looking locomotive indeed. |
