| Amtrak SDP40F 511 at about 18th Street in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in March 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in June 1973 (c/n 72694-12) it was retired around 1984 and traded to the AT&SF (a total of 18 SDP40F's were traded for 43 Santa Fe SSB1200's and CF7's). This unit was rebuilt during April 1985 into ATSF SDF40-2 5251, later BNSF 6961. The SDF40-2's were retired by the BNSF in 2002 and stripped for parts. |
