We lived on 161st St in the Jamaica section of Queens til I was five. Our apartment was midway between the Queens IND and the Jam}ica Av BMT line. Dad worked at the NY Times, so we most often took the IND, but occasionally wed make a foray onto the BMT-more fun because it was elevated. This was taken from the rear window of a Brooklyn bound train at 160th St, looking back toward the terminal at 168th. Theres a train in the station there, most likely R 16s, which were common on that line then-I recall their round windows in the front doors. The line came down beyond Queens Blvd in the late 70s.
