C1875. This scene is at Crawford Notch about the time the MEC leased the line from the P&O. RLHS RR History #152 says this part of the P&O began operation in August 1875 and was leased to MEC 3 years later to eventually become the Mountain Division. I suspect the dirt road was not listed as U.S. Rt 302 on maps at that time.... /DL |
