This was the first time I was able to catch 47 in person. Right then it started to park in its engine house for the day so I had stumbled onto it at exactly the right time. Two months later this unit was renumbered to 12 when they received a new 47 from Western Rail, a GP 38-3 rebuilt from WRIX 3507 and originally a SP unit. This one in this picture is a RL1500 rebuilt from a SW1200 by Republic Locomotive around 1990. I have seen some reports that this locomotive was the first RL1500 rebuild. |
