Altoona Action. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in June of 1973. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central Railroad engines #8053 and #7866. Both were built by GM-EMD. #8053 is a GP38-2 and #7866 is a GP-38. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train past the Passenger Station and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Partially visible in the distance is the black-colored 12th Street Footbridge. |
