The Louisville & Nashville's highest numbered E-unit and the Illinois Central's first E8 were at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal shortly before the start-up of Amtrak. L&N E7A 799 was originally Chicago & Eastern Illinois 1101, then Missouri Pacific 28, and had only been an L&N unit since June 1969. (approximate day) |
