Here is a photo that was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 70. Photo Caption: "Engine No. 6915 rounds the Horseshoe Curve in 1926." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6915, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during October of 1926 and retired in April of 1956 after 30 years of service. It is pulling a passenger train past the Kittanning Point Station on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. |
