Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer of an eastbound Pennsylvania Railroad freight train approaching the 24th Street Bridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Shown here is PRR engine #6431, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. Also visible is four-track Signal Bridge #2373, just West of the 24th Street Bridge and SLOPE Tower. The date is an approximation. Roy Healey Collection; #9 of 9. |
