Here is page six of a six-page camera study celebrating the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Centipede" locomotives. It was published originally in the May-June 1973 issue of "PC Railroader" magazine, page 28. Here are four running-gear photos taken of a pair of semi-permanently coupled "Centipedes": #5816 and #5828. Both are BH-50's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5816 was built in November 1947 and retired in September of 1962, whereas #5828 was built in November of 1948 and retired in April of 1962. The location is not recorded. |
