Amtrak E8A 208 was on train 58 – the northbound PANAMA LIMITED – at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal with a couple of Illinois Central units. The locomotive had been built in October 1953 as Baltimore & Ohio 32 and was renumbered B&O 1452 in 1957. After it became Amtrak 208 in 1971 it spent most of its short Amtrak career on the IC/ICG before being retired. The 208 was one of about 80 E-units retired on 28 May 1975, and it was sold for scrap to Naparano Iron & Metal in New Jersey that October. (approximate date of photo) |
