Album Info:Here are seven original photos that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 03 September 1959. These photos are presented in the order that I took them. In terms of my relatively-brief career as an amateur photographer, this is my first series shoot. Technically speaking, most of these photos are not very good, but what do want from a thirteen-year-old with a Kodak 620 camera?

Description:  Horseshoe Curve-1959. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 3 September 1959. Shown here (F to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9821 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9821 is an EF-15A built in May of 1951. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.

Description:  Horseshoe Curve-1959. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 3 September 1959. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8673 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #8673 is an AS-18AM built in March of 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. They're pushing a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignments.

It's the lead unit pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.
